Análisis del tratamiento del concepto de área en libros de texto de primaria

Resumo

In this paper, we present the most relevant aspects of the analysis of treatment of the subject area in six textbooks 5th and 6th grade elementary Argentine educational system (students 10 and 11 years old or so). We focus the study on the different approaches to the area raised in the texts, how to present the formulas for calculating the area and the type of mathematical activity that promotes the student. We describe the main features of the different treatments and identify proposals that have features characteristic of the type of work to which we aspire-one in which the student acts as a true mathematician.
